The Mansfield American 11U Little League team beat Dighton, 24-5, to capture its second consecutive Attleboro Invitational Baseball Tournament title.

The victory capped a dominating five-game run by the Locals, who outscored the opposition 76-8 on their way to the championship.

The Americans set the tone in the opener, with an 11-0 win over Rehoboth.

Will Lund picked up the victory for Mansfield, while Sam Martin, Conner Zukowski and Chris Hormann (two runs apiece) paced the offense.

Mansfield followed the same script in game two, a 12-0 rout of Maplewood of Fall River.

Jared Fraone, Ryan MacDonald and Sam Martin each scored two runs in the game.

Slugger Rocco Scarpellini’s titanic home run highlighted Mansfield’s 12-2 game-three victory over Milton. Ten out of 12 Mansfield players scored at least one run in the win, which gave the squad a 3-0 record and the top seed going into the playoffs.

The Mansfield offense really clicked into the next gear in the first round of the playoffs.

Paced by a 14-hit attack, the Americans clobbered West Bridgewater, 17-1, to advance to the next round.

Chris Horman’s three-run homer keyed an eight run first inning for Mansfield, which also got round-trippers from Rocco Scarpellini and Jared Fraone (three runs scored). JT Veiking, Will Lund, Chris Hormann and Scarpellini scored two runs apiece as Mansfield moved on to the title game.

Pitcher Danny Powers (three innings, no hits, five strikeouts) held the Dighton offense at bay while the mighty Mansfield offense unlimbered.

Rocco Scarpellini capped his incredible tournament performance with a blast that cleared the outfield fence by at least 100 feet.

Caden Colby, Aidan Jones, Liam Doyle, Danny Powers, Jared Fraone, Ryan MacDonald, Sam Martin and Will Lund scored two runs apiece as Mansfield steamrolled to their second-straight Attleboro title.

Conner Zukowski turned in a terrific all-around effort, going 10-for-14 (.714) for the tournament, scoring nine runs and playing dazzling defense at shortstop.
